Hello and welcome to the first blog post for Wine Country Lavender! We’re thrilled to share our story, from our lavender farm in the Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia, to the creation of our unique lavender-based culinary, skincare and wellness products. Whether you’re here for natural skincare, health and wellness tips, or simply curious about lavender farming, we’re delighted to have you along.

Our Story: Where Wine Country Lavender Began

Wine Country Lavender began as a blend of passions. I’ve always loved gardening and aromatherapy, while my husband, with his background in physiotherapy and chiropractic, was looking for natural products to use in his healthcare clinics. In 2018, together with healthcare practitioners, we created our first lavender balm, and today, our vision has grown into a 21-acre lavender farm between Singleton and Branxton NSW, with over 10,000 thriving lavender plants, bringing a touch of the Mediterranean countryside to the Hunter Valley!

More Than Just a Lavender Farm

But here’s the thing: we didn’t want to be your typical lavender farm. Sure, we love the smell of lavender as much as the next person, but for us, this is about more than just pretty purple flowers and a pleasant scent. Our approach goes beyond just growing lavender. We’re committed to creating functional products — lavender balms, skincare, and even culinary lavender for our family, friends, and customers to enjoy. We aim to make Wine Country Lavender more than a farm; it’s a source of health, wellness, and relaxation, and we plan to have fun while doing so!

Lavender and Sustainability: A Commitment to Regenerative Farming

Now, we’re not just about making cool and effective products — we’re also about doing things the right way. We prioritise sustainable and regenerative farming practices to enrich the soil on our land, which had never been farmed before. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and every step — planting, harvesting, and distilling lavender essential oil — we're hands on at every step of the process, creating products we’re proud to offer. And if you ever come visit, you'll quickly see (or smell!) it’s as good-smelling as it sounds (we may enjoy bragging about being the best-smelling farmers in the region... just a bit!).

The Benefits of Lavender: Health, Skincare, and Culinary Uses

Our product line reflects the diverse benefits of lavender. With different types of lavender grown on our farm — medicinal, culinary, and fragrance-grade — we create essential oils, balms, creams, and dried lavender products that cater to health, relaxation, skincare, and culinary needs, crafted with care for quality and effectiveness. And we’re not stopping here. We have recently launched our herbal tea blends, and we’re constantly experimenting - we can’t wait to add even more to the collection.

Hunter Valley Accommodation

When our guests book their stay at Wine Country Lavender, they can also go for a stroll around our garden and lavender fields, often with kangaroos basking in the sun and various types of birds chirping away. We are more than thrilled to share that Wine Country Lavender has been shortlisted for the 2024 Hunter Local Business Awards (Outstanding Tourism Services). Booking can be made via Airbnb.
